Concert | Elena Denisova: Myths and Fairy Tales
October 22, 2016 | 7:30 pm
As featuring guest violin soloist Elena Denisova plays at Knox-Galesburg Symphony's opening night of their 65th Anniversary Season. The concert program includes Fanfare to La Peri (Paul Dukas), Violin Concerto in D Major (Ludwig van Beethoven), Concerto for Two Flutes in C Major, Op. 47/2 (Antonio Vivaldi) and Firebird Suite (Igor Stravinsky).
Elena Denisova sees herself as a passionate "Ambassador of the magic of sound" and places this motto first to all interpretations not only of classical music, but also of contemporary pieces. Numerous works have been devoted to her by contemporary composers; some of them are perpetuated on CDs. Denisova started her career in 1990, which led her to performances with great orchestras (including Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Lodon), numerous festivals (including Salzburger Festspiele) and prestigious concert series (including the Vienna Musikverein). She founded the Austrian Gustav Mahler Association, the Gustav Mahler Ensemble, the String Orchestra Collegium Musicum Carinthia and the Classic Etcetera Music Association, and has been the director of the Wörthersee Classics festival, since 2002.
