Concert | National Chamber Ensemble: A Night in Vienna
October 22, 2016 | 7:30 pm
The National Chamber Ensemble's 10th season opens with an evening of elegance. "A Night in Vienna", in collaboration with the Austrian Cultural Forum, will feature the unforgettable masterpieces by Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert, and will include Schubert’s charming song Die Forelle (The Trout), sung by soprano Nancy Peery Marriott, the enchanting Trout Piano Quintet and the passionate Piano Quartet in G minor by Brahms.
The National Chamber Ensemble (NCE) celebrates a decade of bringing outstanding performances to that Capital Area and Vienna, a city full of charm, music, history and elegance. The NCE opening night spotlights two of it's great composers, Johannes Brahms and Franz Schubert. While Schubert was a native of Vienna, Brahms fell in love with the city after visiting, moved there and remained for the rest of his life. Both Schubert and Brahms composed in the traditional forms of the Classical Period, but the content of their music is highly Romantic. Three of the most popular and sublime works of the composers will be performed.
