Contributions from Austria to the Kids Euro Festival 2013
Martha in the Suitcase
One of this year's contributions from Austria was Martha Labil (www.marthalabil.com) with her performance of 'Martha in the Suitcase': Many stories feature suitcases and most of them are travel adventures... But this is a different story. Martha gets inside her own suitcase to tell you exciting new stories. Lots of thrilling things were found in her suitcases and made the kids laugh and marvel alike. The Performance full of music, acrobatics and a lot of surprise was also mentioned in the Washington Post.
"This is a good weekend to be a kid (when isn't it?) [...]" (Washington Post).
A horse on the Balcony
For ten-year-old Mika, things do not go quite as expected on the day he discovers a horse on his neighbor’s balcony! Mika is suddenly embroiled in an adventure involving an Indian princess, a hapless gambler, and — of course! — a horse. While Mika is pretty confused by all these strange developments, he aims to get it all sorted out by Christmas Eve!
The Kids Euro Festival and the Austrian Cultural Forum Washington were proud to anounce that the film’s star, Enzo Gaier, attended the two screenings of the film for question and answer sessions. The talks took place on Nov. 10 and 13 at the AFI Silver Theater in Maryland.
Furthermore Director Huseyin Tabak won notable film awards at the 30th Annual Chicago International Children’s Film Festival 2013 Award (CICFF). 'A Horse on the Balcony' (Austria 2012) received 1st Place in the Adult Jury Prize for a Live Action Feature Film.
