5th Annual Botstiber Lecture on Austrian-American Affairs

The Austrian Cultural Forum is delighted to pronounce a special event in May: The Fifth Annual Botstiber Lecture on Austrian-American Affairs.

The Fifth Annual Botstiber Lecture on Austrian-American Affairs will be held on Friday, May 31 at the Austrian Embassy.

Ambassador Hans Winkler is going to speak on “Coming to Terms with Austria’s Past - the Role of the United States”, covering the negotiations about compensation and restitution of property stolen by the National Socialists during the occupation of Austria from 1938 to 1945, leading to the Washington Agreement in 2000 for which Ambassador Winkler was a chief negotiator.

Ambassador Hans Winkler has been the Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna since April 2009. He has served as State Secretary in the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs and has headed the International Law Department in the Foreign Ministry and acted as Ambassador to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
