Andrea Eckert performing 'Lotte and Greta, Two Ladies from Vienna'

Reflections on the lives of Lotte Lenya and Greta Keller by their favourite songs

Lotte Lenya and Greta Keller, two extraordinary performers, whose lives were bifurcated by war, are at the heart of this program. Singing in German, English and French the renowned Austrian actress and singer Andrea Eckert takes us on a thrilling journey through the lives, loves and losses of these two remarkable performers.

Lotte Lenya was the wife and muse of Kurt Weill and the acclaimed interpreter of his songs. In the second half of her life she was discovered by the American film industry. For instance she was part of the cast in the James Bond movie "From Russia with Love". Furthermore she was nominated for an Oscar. Embodying Miss Schneider in the premiere of the musicalCabaret she became a legend of Broadway.

Greta Keller's live performances were legendary. She sold millions of records as a radio and recording artist. She performed her multilingual Chanson programs in sold-out concert halls in the US and Europe and had her own Night Club in NY - „Keller in the Keller“.

Andrea Eckert’s program is a tribute to these two great artists: Two Viennese ladies and two international stars who are forgotten today.

An evening with songs by Friedrich Hollaender, Kurt Weill, Ralph Benatzky, Hermann Leopoldi, George Gershwin, John Kander, Benjamin Britten, Franz Schubert and many more.

Excerpts from reviews:

" you concentrate, comprisingly thrilled, to the presentation and singing of the wonderful Andrea Eckert. She discloses in perfection the format of true star, ennobled by skill and charisma.”

“...Andrea Eckert sets our soul landscape under current and demonstrates as a song artist the unification of art and popular fiction, dime magazine and serious tragedy. Thunderous applause.”
