April 7, 2015 | Concert | Lana Cenčić

Lana Cenčić grew up in a richly creative home in Croatia and went on to become a highly lauded actress, musician and dancer in Europe.
Underneath it all, however, something was missing. She made the brave decision to follow her inner directive, packing up her life to move to New York City to pursue her own artistic identity as Lana Is.
"In Your Head" her 2013 breakthrough solo album, is widely celebrated by critics and fans alike, establishing Lana Is as a startlingly original creative force with a seemingly limitless future. The album shows very diverse songs, some like a mild version of Ani Di Franco, some experimental onomatopoeia with atonal multi-layered singing and exciting instrumental ornamentation, some studded with abstract references to Balkan folklore. Her boldly vulnerable debut album, is the result of Lana’s journey within herself as she has made her way over the past three years in New York. She performs in both the US and Europe as Lana Is.
Beside her own thriving career she is known for her work as a versatile collaborator who has lent her talents to a diverse array of projects with a wide assortment of artists including Manu Delago (Bjork), John Medeski, Kenny Wollesen, Dan Weiss, and Michael Mantler.
She has performed at the The Blue Note, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Stone, Roulette, as well as at The Winter Jazzfest in NYC, Konzerthaus and Porgy&Bess in Vienna and the Kyoto Music Expo in Japan.
