The ACFDC is delighted to present the musical evening "Violon En Face" with compositions by Gabriele Proy as well as Fritz Kreisler, Eugène-Auguste Ysaÿeand Johann Sebastian Bach played by the Russian violinist Elena Denisova. Gabriele Proy, born in Vienna, Austria, received for her composition “Campanula” the Composition Prize of the City of Vienna in 2014. This piece was dedicated to the violin virtuoso Elena Denisova, who also played it at the First International Campanula Music Festival in Schifferstadt, its world premiere. 

Gabriele Proy is one of Austria’s best-known contemporary composers. She studied composition under Prof. Erich Urbanner at the University of Music and Performing Arts of Vienna. Her compositions for choirs, orchestras and chamber orchestras have been performed by various orchestras, soloists and conductors e.g. the Munich Philharmonic Chior or the Wiener Symphoniker. In 2013, she received the Composition Prize of the City of Vienna.

Elena Denisova, born in Moscow, is a violinist who already loved to listen to Jascha Heifetz‘ music in her early childhood. Soon her parents supported her musical talent. While she was still a pupil at the music school of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, she recorded her first LP. After her graduation, Elena played as well as soloist in the Moscow State Philharmonic, first violinist of the Moscow National Quartet and as a chamber musician. In the 1990s, Elena Denisova held her concert performances in Western Europe where she choose Austria as her second home.
