About the Orchestra: The Danube Philharmonic Orchestra Vienna ( was founded in the year 2000 with the goal of presenting music predomminantly from 1860 to 1930 in the 'original sound of the fin de siècle.' Right from the beginning, it was enthusiastically received by the audience and the critics - no wonder, since it is composed of members from the great orchestras of the Danube Region from Vienna to Budapest. In order to optimally achieve an authentic sound, the Danube Philharmonic Orchestra Vienna only uses carefully edited sheet music, as well as predominantly original instruments of the historical period (or corresponding copies). The orchestra has comprehensive, internationally focused concert engagements witht its Chief Conductor, Manfred Müssauer, which took them all to many countries in Europe and Asia.

The concert evening is accompanied by an exhibition of contemporary art – ‘Ask for Haydn. Views from the present.’
