Tchaikovsky is Forever: operatic arias and romances
The Russian Chamber Art Society invites you to the Austrian Embassy on December 5, 2014 at 7:30 pm to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the birth of Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky. Everyone knows his ballet music (The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Sleeping Beauty), his concertos and symphonies, and his operas (such as Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades), but one of his favorite musical forms was the Russian art song. In these romances he speaks of the intimate personal experiences common to all walks of life.
He was the first Russian composer to make a name for his music internationally, cementing a place for Russian music within the broader European musical culture. To honor his achievements, the RCAS is performing "Tchaikovsky is Forever", a concert in which world-renowned artists and rising stars will bring to life the passion and joy of Tchaikovsky's operatic arias and romances.
