Shoes have long since stopped being considered just something to protect the feet from getting cold. Shoes are a form of art. One of the people who live in the magical land of shoes is Austrian Footwear Designer Carolin Holzhuber, whose works among others will be displayed in the exhibition.
Based between Vienna and London Carolin Holzhuber's art is not only about pleasing the eye. There is always something confusing or even slightly disturbing about her designs. With her work she wants to challenge the eyes as well as the mind. Her work has already been published in the famous UK fashion magazine POP Magazine, featured on the Virtual Shoe Museum, the US online fashion magazine HeavenHasHeels, the Cosmopolitan, the German fashion blog Les Mades, on luxury lifestyle blogs like Lancia Trand Vision, the Asian blog The Polysh and the blog of Vogue China. To name just a few publications.
Learn about the art and the sole of the shoe. Trace its footprint through history and culture. Part fantasy, part function, this exhibit looks at footwear from every angle and feet-ures shoe design, sculpture and invention. For all those who would like to try the craft itself, a show painting workshop is offered.
