ATALANTE Quartett | 1824 - Bruckner’s Schubert

  • Embassy of Austria 3524 International Court Northwest Washington, DC, 20008 United States (map)

On the occacion of Anton Bruckner’s 200th birthday in September 2024, we welcome the ATALANTE Quartett in concert at the Embassy of Austria. The musicians honor the great Austrian composer with their program 1824 - Bruckner’s Schubert.

All his life, Anton Bruckner worshipped Franz Schubert as a human being, he admired his music and especially his works for voice. Therefore, the ATALANTE Quartett will perform the only string quartet ever composed by Anton Bruckner as well as Schubert’s quartet No.14, „Death and the Maiden“, which is without any doubt one of the most influential chamber music works, composed exactly 200 years ago.

Founded in 2014, the ATALANTE Quartett focuses on historically informed performances, where the interpretation should come as close as possible to the composer’s original intentions. The artists cherish the tradition of quartet playing. They find great pleasure in making music together, in inspiring, challenging and encouraging each another. They are members of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz.
